Kaden's first smile on 'film'

So it's not really on film, since it was taken with a digital, but it's the first capture of his smile. *snark*

Kaden has his first cold. Luckily, he doesn't hate the snot-sucker like Justin did. Justin would start screaming as soon as he saw it, even the first time I used it on him. It's just minor congestion for now. I hope it doesn't get worse.

Darrell had a ROUGH day at the qualification range yesterday. They've been at this same range for the two practice rounds and the soldiers were firing TERRIBLY. To qualify, you have to hit 23 out of 40. Most of 'em weren't even getting to 10.

So yesterday the drill sergeants got together to figure out what could possibly be wrong. There is no way that the entire company of soldiers were so bad at firing when the training hadn't changed a bit. The guy in charge of the range insisted there was nothing wrong with it, so they focused on everything else. For hours.

Finally they decided to see if it was, in fact, the range. They replaced all the pop-up targets on one lane. One of the drill sergeants borrowed a rifle, zeroed it real quick, and then fired on that fresh lane. He shot a FOUR out of 40. No way. So they went down the lane and counted the bullet holes in the targets. 37. So for some reason, the system wasn't registering hits.

No WONDER!! They'd been so frustrated on that range the whole three days they'd been there and as it turns out, the soldiers were doing just fine. They were quick to tell the soldiers so they knew it wasn't their fault. They'd been hanging their heads for days, wondering what in the world they were doing so wrong.

So, they lined up another range for next week. Today is the confidence course. Hehe.
